VFLI was established in 1998 initially with the aim of meeting the demands of industry to outsourcing rail exploitation of their plants.
Success came quickly as VFLI became within less than 10 years one of six rail operators licensed to operate freight trains on the French railway network.

The French Safety Certificate was obtained in 2007 October the 3rd, first trains being run on the 4th.

VFLI integrates the whole supply chain, combining rail exploitation of industrial plants and seamless door to door transport within France - and also between France and Germany since October 2007. VFLI are also present in key hubs in France such as Strasbourg Port du Rhin, Le Boulou, ports of Lyon and Dunkirk, and provide various services : from local shunting operations to end deliveries.

The subsidiary of Transport & Logistic Partners (100% Group SNCF) is a private company that runs already up 40 to trains a day and works on a pragmatic growth pattern case by case, offering tailor made solutions to its clients. Turnover has been growing fast up to € 60 millions in 2007 .

VFLI's ambition is now to consolidate its role as a major player in the domestic market in France, but also participate in cross border traffics through partnerships.

A growth in turnover to € 100 millions within 3 years is expected. To achieve this ambitious challenge, VFLI can rely on a staff of 120 experienced drivers and on a fleet of 25 locomotives, which are all homologated for international traffics.
