29.08.2005: European Bulls enlarging European RailFreight Network
|
The European Bulls RailFreight Alliance partners rail4chem (D) and Viamont (Cz) recently started complete train services from the Czech Republic to the Port of Rotterdam after successfully carrying out some trial runs to and from various destinations in Germany. The Bulls partner Viamont established a full cross-border link with its own locomotives between Decin (Cz) and Bad Schandau (D). This is the first time that European Bulls operators have provided private-sector rail transport services between the Czech Republic and the Netherlands. Apart from containers and rail tank cars, the alliance can now transport a new commodity “CEREALS”, which make the privately-owned rail companies an even more attractive option for customers. Cargo is supplied by a grain trading house based in Rotterdam to rail4chem Benelux B.V., a 100% subsidiary of rail4chem in Essen. Rail4chem Benelux B.V. is acting as the main contractor and the parent company rail4chem and Viamont are subcontractors. The cargo is dispatched from various loading stations in the Czech Republic and shipped via the Port of Rotterdam. The European Bulls partners are thus demonstrating their ability to become pan-European suppliers of a wide range of international rail services. European Bulls is an alliance of five European rail freight companies from Austria, the Czech Republic, Italy, Germany and Spain. Its main aim is to enable each member to provide safe, reliable, top-quality and customer-oriented rail freight services throughout Europe, ensuring that the rail sector continues to develop as a genuine alternative to road. |
